Source: World Event. The sin'dorei use hawkstriders as mounts, but this little one was deemed unfit after being diagnosed with numerous anxiety disorders. Critter type. Another great Non-Combat pet in the game. You obtain it after you do Children's Week in Outlands.
Egbert is a hyperactive baby hawkstrider companion obtained as one of four rewards during the Burning Crusade version of the Children's Week world event.

Start Children's Week Quest
Head to the quest giver at 75, 47.6 to accept the Children's Week quest and receive your 
Blood Elf Orphan Whistle to begin the event chain.
Visit Hch'uu in Zangarmarsh
Travel to Hch'uu at 44, 64.2 in Zangarmarsh, then continue to 19.2, 51.3 to complete the Hch'uu and the Mushroom People portion of the quest chain.
Complete Remaining Quests
After finishing the first three quests, two additional quests will unlock at 89.5, 50 — complete all five quests to earn 
Egbert's Egg and add Egbert to your collection.
Tips
Egbert will wander off erratically on his own after you stand idle for a moment — his wandering speed even adjusts to match your current travel speed, making for a chaotic show on faster mounts.
Egbert is great company during long profession sessions like smelting or crafting bandages, as his restless exploring helps pass the time — see the video guide for a look at his idle animation.
