Source: Pet Battle. Unnoticed but to cats and ratcatchers, when Deathwing descended upon Stormwind all the rats beat a hasty retreat from the city. Only of late have t... Critter type. A great place to grind through some rats is here. There are 4 spawn points here, and I've not been able to kill them all before they start to respawn.
The Stormwind Rat is a wild pet found in Stormwind City and parts of Elwynn Forest, captured through pet battles.

Head to Stormwind City
Stormwind City is the easiest place to find and catch Stormwind Rats, with Old Town and the docks being particularly dense spawn areas where rats respawn faster than you can battle them.
Try Old Town for Rares
Old Town in Stormwind City has an especially high spawn rate, making it the best spot to farm for a rare-quality Stormwind Rat.
Horde Players: Use an Alt
Horde players should create a level 1 Alliance character and travel directly to the Stormwind docks to catch this pet, rather than attempting the smaller spawns in Elwynn Forest or fighting through city guards.
Check Elwynn Forest Spawns
Stormwind Rats also spawn in Elwynn Forest, particularly around gnoll camps and Hogger's Hill, though these spawns are smaller and less dense than those inside Stormwind City.
Tips
There are at least 4 spawn points clustered together in Stormwind, and they respawn quickly enough that you can chain battles without waiting.
