Guide awaiting review
Start Lawn of the Dead
Accept and begin the Lawn of the Dead quest, which tasks you with defending against waves of zombies using plantable units across a grid of lanes.
Collect Sun Energy Always
Right-click every sun that appears on screen as soon as you see it — this is your primary resource and skipping even a few can leave you unable to plant defenses in time.
Build Two Sunflower Columns
Prioritize planting at least two full columns of sunflowers, or a minimum of 8 sunflowers total, as this generates enough solar energy to sustain a strong defense for the rest of the encounter.
Set Up Defensive Rows
Structure each defensive row as: Sunflower, Sunflower, Spitter Plant, Spitter Plant, Freezer Plant, Rock Nut — using two spitter plants for reliable damage output, since freezer plants deal very little damage on their own.
Counter Ghoul Spawns Early
Once ghoul-type zombies begin spawning, deploy a freezer plant as your first countermeasure to slow their advance while your spitter plants deal damage.
Tips
The Singing Sunflower pet occasionally stops while following you to sing lines from the Plants vs. Zombies theme, including 'There's a zombie on your la-awn', while musical notes float upward and its hands glow.
