Guide awaiting review

1

Head to Whitepetal Lake

Travel to Whitepetal Lake in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms at 30.7, 78.2. Dancing Water Skimmers can be found in groups throughout the waterways here, though they appear less frequently than Eternal Striders.

2

Fight Golden Civets Nearby

Check the north corner of the lake on the west side of Mogushan Palace, where packs of Golden Civets and Golden Civet Kittens spawn. Dancing Water Skimmers frequently appear as second or third pets in those battles, giving you a chance to tame one without needing to find a primary spawn.

3

Kite Obstructed Skimmers Away

Dancing Water Skimmers that spawn in the middle of Whitepetal Lake at 30.7, 78.2 often trigger a "battle area is obstructed" error. To engage one, aggro it and kite it away from the lake while rapidly pressing your Interact with Target keybind until the pet drops out of its movement and the battle can begin.

4

Use a Targeting Macro

If you are having trouble clicking the pet, create a macro with /tar danc followed by /love on the next line. This is especially useful in busy areas like south of the Temple of Kotmogu battleground, where Dancing Water Skimmers are found in large numbers.

Tips

  • Dancing Water Skimmers previously phased out once Golden Lotus questing began, but this was fixed in patch 5.2, so they are accessible regardless of your questing progress.
