Wait for Active World Quest
The Sharptalon Matriarch only appears in Val'sharah when the Sharptalon Swarm! world quest is active. She will not spawn if the quest is not currently live. The zone can be reached conveniently from Highmountain via Felbane Camp.
Purchase Dried Bilberries First
Before heading to the world quest area, purchase
Dried Bilberries from a vendor in the Broken Isles — vendors selling this food are located near the closest flightpaths to the world quest area. Without the food, you will not be able to obtain the pet.
Defeat the Sharptalon Matriarch
Find and defeat the Sharptalon Matriarch in the Val'sharah world quest area. She is an elite with a respawn timer of around 5 minutes. Note that only one player appears to receive kill credit — you can use the script /script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(44881)) to confirm whether you received credit for the kill.
Locate and Feed the Hatchling
After the Matriarch is defeated, a Sharptalon Hatchling NPC will spawn nearby, though not always in the immediate area — one reported spawn was at 47, 10 on the next cliff behind the Matriarch. There is no green paw on the map to mark its location. Interact with the hatchling and feed it the Dried Bilberries to claim it as your pet. Be sure you have not reached your maximum number of pets before interacting with the hatchling.
Tips
This pet is one of four falcosaurs introduced in Patch 7.1, each tied to a different Broken Isles zone — completing its associated quest chain will lead toward obtaining the
Viridian Sharptalon mount over several weeks.See the video guide for a visual walkthrough of the full process.
