Target the Ruins of Silvermoon
Focus your search in the Ruins of Silvermoon at the far back corner at 46, 35, where rare quality Ruby Saplings have been found after extended searching.
Check health to identify breed
When engaging a Ruby Sapling, check its level 1 health: a rare with the high HP breed (Breed ID 6) will show exactly 135 health, while the other two breeds will show exactly 127 health. Any other health value indicates uncommon or lower quality.
Prioritize the high HP breed
Aim for Breed ID 6 (high HP), as the Ruby Sapling is one of the strongest tanking pets available, with advantages over other pets including a higher damage-dealing move that also applies a damage-over-time effect and strong matchups against mechanical pets in PvP.
Tips
The Ruby Sapling's dot-based damage makes it less ideal for capturing other pets, so switch to a different pet when you need to capture.
The Ruby Sapling is one of the few lower-level elementals worth leveling, making it a solid companion through early content.
