From The Gift of Cheese. If Roland has taught you anything, it's that friendship comes at a price. That price is lots and lots of cheese. Critter type.

Roland is a pet obtained through the 'The Gift of Cheese' achievement in Dragonflight by feeding cheese to rats across the world.

Guide awaiting review

1

Resolve Old Recipe Rat

If you have an unfinished Recipe Rat negotiation from Zskera Vault, complete it or delete the Torn Recipe Scrap before proceeding, as this can block the new cheese interaction from appearing.

2

Learn Cooking and Buy Cheese

Reach cooking skill 50 — this is mandatory to later learn the recipe for the soulbound Charitable Cheddar — then purchase at least 20x Fine Aged Cheddar, as you will need more for cooking later.

3

Find Cheese in Zaralek Cavern

Head to Obsidian Rest in Zaralek Cavern on the Dragon Isles and interact with a supply crate to find the Squeaking Swiss at 52.43, 26.82 — the cheese will only be visible once Steps 1 and 2 are completed.

4

Farm 50 Rats Efficiently

For farming the 50 rats, go to Shattrath where 10 rats are clustered close together: feed all 10 in Warmode on, then turn Warmode off and feed the same rats again, then return to your capital city to toggle Warmode back on and repeat — rats respawn in roughly 5 to 10 minutes, making this loop take about 30 minutes. Note that rats engaged in a pet battle cannot be fed, so only approach rats that are not flagged for battle.

5

Alternative Rat Farming Spot

Dalaran Ruins in Hillsbrad Foothills is another strong option for farming rats, with a high density of spawns and very little competition compared to Tirisfal Glades.
