Red-Tailed Chipmunk

Battle Pet· Wrath of the Lich KingWILDPETCritter type
Pet Battle

From Mechanical Squirrel Box. According to the tales of the night elves, the first red-tailed chipmunk was colored so after the theft and consumption of a sacred apple. Critter type. I found one in Desolace as a secondary pet to a Stone Armadillo, so for those reporting that they cannot find them in Desolace they may just not exist as primary battle pets.

The Red-Tailed Chipmunk is a wild pet found as both a primary and secondary battle pet across several zones, most reliably encountered in Teldrassil and as a secondary pet near the Maraudon tunnels in Desolace.

Guide awaiting review

1

Hunt in Teldrassil

Head to Teldrassil, where Red-Tailed Chipmunks roam the mainland and can also be found on the mountains bordering Shadowglen. Elfin Rabbits share this mountain area, so you may capture both on the same trip.

2

Check Darnassus

Red-Tailed Chipmunks also appear in Darnassus, making it a convenient fallback location, especially for Alliance players or Horde players who did not find one in Teldrassil.

3

Farm Desolace Tunnels

In Desolace, head to the tunnels leading up to Maraudon, where Red-Tailed Chipmunks appear as a common secondary pet alongside Amethyst Shale Hatchlings (levels 7–9) just inside the door but outside the instance. Chipmunks here are level 9 and do not appear as primary battle pets in this zone.

4

Check Hillsbrad Foothills

Red-Tailed Chipmunks can also be found in Hillsbrad Foothills if you have not secured one from the other locations.
