Pulsating Maggot
Drops from Hidden Stash. Normally just a plain white in color, their skin reflects whatever they have eaten and gains wonderful spots of color depending on the organs diges... Critter type. As with many pets that have the potential of a self-kill ability, if you join the battle, you can check and see if it has 'Burst' on the attack bar.
The Pulsating Maggot is a Shadowlands wild pet found in Maldraxxus that can be captured after managing its Burst ability.

Travel to Maldraxxus
Head to Maldraxxus and travel northwest out of Theater of Pain where Pulsating Maggots spawn along the road.
Check for Burst ability
Enter battle with a Pulsating Maggot and check its attack bar. If it has the Burst ability listed, flee the battle and rejoin until you find one without Burst to avoid it exploding during capture.
Capture the pet
Use a Corgi Pup with Super Bark to make capturing easier once you have found a Pulsating Maggot without the Burst ability.
Tips
This method is especially useful when hunting for rare versions of the pet, as they are more valuable and losing one to Burst is more costly.
