Visit Halpa at 62.2, 58.4 in Thunder Bluff to purchase a Prairie Dog directly. Prairie Dogs also spawn abundantly throughout Thunder Bluff itself and respawn very quickly, making this a reliable spot to battle and capture one.
Hunt in Northern Barrens
The highest concentration of Prairie Dogs in Northern Barrens is found in and around the burning area just northwest of Ratchet. Rare quality Prairie Dogs do appear here, though it may take many battles before one shows up.
Search Nagrand for higher-level pets
In Nagrand, Prairie Dogs can be found as primary pets along the west side of the zone and around Oshu'gun, as well as at roughly 57, 44 and 54, 46 and 63, 42. Avoid hunting near Garadar, where Prairie Dogs tend to appear only as secondary pets to Toads. Battling Clefthoof Runts in the area can cause Prairie Dogs to start spawning as secondaries.
