Locate lava pools in Burning Steppes
Travel to Burning Steppes and search the various lava pools where Lava Beetles spawn. They often appear alongside Lava Crabs in the same locations. If you have difficulty finding them, try killing Lava Crabs to trigger faster Beetle spawns, or explore the mountains between the lake and Morgan's Vigil at 66.2, 45.7 where a large lava pit contains multiple spawns.
Challenge and capture the pet
Click on a Lava Beetle to initiate a pet battle and capture it. You must challenge them directly—they do not appear as random bonus pets during other encounters.
Tips
Lava Beetles share spawn points with Lava Crabs, so killing crabs in the area may cause beetles to spawn more quickly.
The mountains between the lake and Morgan's Vigil at 66.2, 45.7 have a large lava pit with consistent Beetle spawns.
Do not confuse Lava Beetle with Fire Beetle, which is a different pet that does not appear as a secondary pet.
