Travel to House of Plagues
Head to the House of Plagues area in Maldraxxus, south of the Plague Watch Flight Master. The Pool of Mixed Monstrosities is located here, and the Oily Invertebrate rare spawns at 58.41, 74.31 in Maldraxxus.
Collect glowing ground objects
Kill mobs around the Pool of Mixed Monstrosities — they drop glowing objects on the ground after death. These objects are not personal loot, so any nearby player can interact with and pick them up.
Farm the three component types
Viscous Oil drops from Burning Extract and Colossal Plasma (red slime mobs south of the Pool), Mephitic Goo drops from Colossal Goo and Prodigious Animate (blue slime giants south of the Pool), and Miscible Ooze drops from Diseased Remnant and Infectious Monstrosity (yellow slime giants north of the Pool).
Contribute equal components to pool
Pick up the dropped objects and bring them to the Pool of Mixed Monstrosities at 58.41, 74.31 in Maldraxxus. After 30 items are contributed in equal numbers of each type, the Oily Invertebrate rare will spawn.
Defeat Oily Invertebrate
Kill the Oily Invertebrate at 58.41, 74.31 in Maldraxxus for a chance to loot Invertebrate Oil. Multiple players can receive the pet from the same kill.
Tips
This farm can be difficult on populated servers due to competition over the ground objects and contribution credit.
