Grotto Voles can also appear as secondary pets in battles against other creatures in the area, so engage any wild pet battle nearby to have a chance at one spawning as a secondary.
Understand the Sting Combo
Grotto Vole's value comes from pairing Sting with Stampede: Stampede causes the enemy to take double damage, and Sting applies a damage-over-time effect lasting five rounds, meaning every tick of Sting deals double damage even if the opponent uses a dodge, burrow, dive, or fly ability.
Tips
Grotto Vole is the only Rare-quality wild pet of its type with access to Sting — the alternative, Whiskers the Rat, can only reach uncommon quality naturally and requires a battle-stone to upgrade.
