Farm at spawning location
Travel to the spawning area at 62.34, 58.56 in Zereth Mortis where three Bloodsucker Vespoids appear together. After defeating all three, the first two will respawn, allowing you to farm for a rare version. Watch out for nearby Vespoid Drones, though they are easily defeated.
Use effective battle strategy
Spam Bite and Barbed Stinger attacks against critter opponents, then use Blood Harvest to sustain your pet during extended battles.
