The Baby Ape is a wild pet found on Jaguero Island in The Cape of Stranglethorn that only spawns during rain, making it one of the weather-dependent wild pet captures in the game.

Travel to Jaguero Island
Head to Jaguero Island in The Cape of Stranglethorn. Note that Jaguero Island has its own separate weather system from the rest of Stranglethorn — rain in the Cape does not guarantee rain on the island, and vice versa.
Wait for Island Rain
Baby Apes only spawn when it is actively raining on Jaguero Island specifically. The rain lasts roughly 10 to 20 minutes at random intervals, and the Baby Apes will continue to respawn throughout the duration of the rain.
Camp Using Audio Cues
Park an alt on the island and enable Sound in Background (Game Menu > System > Sound) with ambience turned up — you will hear birds chirping during dry weather, and the rain starting when Baby Apes are about to spawn, allowing you to tab in and capture without watching the screen constantly.
