Acquisition Guide

Ren's Stalwart Hound is a mount that drops from Houndlord Ren in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms during Battle for Azeroth.

1

Unlock 8.3 Phase Access

To enter the phase where Houndlord Ren spawns, unlock BFA World Quests, complete the Nazjatar intro questline up to The Heart Forge, then begin the 8.3 questline starting with An Unwelcome Advisor and accept A Titanic Problem — you do not need to complete it, only have it in your quest log.

2

Wait for Mogu Assault

Houndlord Ren only appears during the Mogu Assault in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Check the active assault rotation and travel to the zone when the Mogu Assault is live.

3

Locate and Defeat Houndlord Ren

Find Houndlord Ren patrolling at 9, 35.7 in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and defeat him for a chance at Ren's Stalwart Hound. The mount has approximately a 3% drop rate.

4

Farm on Multiple Characters

Each character that has completed the prerequisite questline steps can loot Houndlord Ren at 9, 35.7 once per assault, so running the kill on additional alts each Mogu Assault increases your total attempts.

Tips

  • You do not need to have the Vale assault fully unlocked to loot Houndlord Ren — having A Titanic Problem in your quest log is sufficient to enter the phase.

  • Each eligible character gets one loot attempt per Mogu Assault, so farming with alts multiplies your weekly attempts without waiting for lockout resets.
