Reach the Island
The Syntactic Vault is located on the Sepulcher of the First Ones island in Zereth Mortis. Access to this island is normally unlocked after completing Chapter 4 of the Zereth Mortis Campaign, specifically the quest Key Crafting. If you have not yet unlocked it, use the Ancient Translocator teleport at 64.83, 53.52 to reach the island.
Locate the Vault Cave
Head to the Syntactic Vault at 76.87, 58.83 on the south part of the island. The cave entrance is nearby at 76.31, 59.59 — enter the cave to find the locked vault inside.
Collect Six Runic Syllables
To unlock the Syntactic Vault, you must collect 6 Runic Syllables scattered across the island. Each Runic Syllable grants a 5-minute Syllabic Recall buff, so collect all six before the buff expires. Find them at: Runic Syllable #1 at 76.99, 58.91; Runic Syllable #2 at 76.93, 60.39; Runic Syllable #3 at 80.91, 56.24; Runic Syllable #4 at 81.17, 50.26; Runic Syllable #5 at 76.9, 46.64; and Runic Syllable #6 at 78.01, 53.58.
Open the Vault
With all 6 stacks of the Syllabic Recall buff active, return to the Syntactic Vault at 76.87, 58.83 inside the cave and open it to loot the Protopological Cube. The Syntactic Vault is part of both the Treasures of Zereth Mortis and Curious Collections achievements.
Tips
Plan a route that lets you grab all 6 Runic Syllables efficiently, since the Syllabic Recall buff only lasts 5 minutes — start with the ones farthest from the vault and work your way back.
If you mount up while transformed by the toy, you will lose the Nascent Prototype appearance while mounted, but the buff remains active and the appearance returns when you dismount.
You can reach the island early using a
