Check Reputation Requirements
Some versions of the Shimmering Wyrmling require reputation to purchase from a vendor, while the caged battle pet version and reward satchel or black market versions do not have a reputation requirement.
Purchase the Pet
Once you meet any applicable reputation requirements, purchase the Shimmering Wyrmling from the vendor. If you prefer to skip reputation gating entirely, look for the caged battle pet version on the Auction House, as it can be traded between players.
Tips
Mana Surge has a significant chance to miss — between 30% and 50% even at level 25 against low-level pets — so pairing it with Arcane Storm (provided by an Azure Whelpling or similar pet) and then casting Drain Power followed by Mana Surge on the next turn can dramatically increase its damage output.
The purchased vendor versions of this pet require reputation, but the caged battle pet version and the reward satchel or black market versions do not, so factor this into which acquisition method you pursue.
If you enjoy this pet's moveset but want better performance, a 7/17 breed Mana Wyrmling will outperform the Shimmering Wyrmling and shares a similar ability kit.
