Ironforge
Classic faction. 12/2018: If you're doing anything other than tabard+Mechanar runs, you're doing it wrong.
Ironforge is the Classic Alliance faction representing the Dwarves of Ironforge, earned through questing, Alterac Valley turn-ins, and tabard dungeon grinding.
Obtain the Ironforge Tabard
Pick up the
Ironforge Tabard from Captain Stonehelm at 55.4, 47.4 in Ironforge, then equip it before running dungeons to earn Ironforge reputation from kills.
Farm Mechanar with Tabard
Enter Mechanar on Normal difficulty with the Ironforge Tabard equipped — each full run awards around 2, 600 reputation. A portal at the end of the instance lets you exit and reset quickly without running back.
Run Alterac Valley Repeatable Quests
Participate in Alterac Valley and turn in repeatable items such as armor scraps, medals, Tamed Rams, wolf hides, Crystal Clusters, and mine supplies for strong Ironforge reputation gains; staying on defense increases the amount of turn-in items looted from enemy faction corpses.
Be Aware of Post-Shattering Quest Losses
After the Shattering, many quests in Searing Gorge and Badlands that previously granted Ironforge reputation were removed or redirected to other factions, leaving roughly 12,000 out of 21,000 Exalted reputation available through questing alone — tabard dungeon farming is the most reliable path to Exalted.
Tips
Non-Dwarf characters must reach Exalted with Ironforge to purchase a Ram mount from Captain Stonehelm at 55.4, 47.4 in Ironforge.
