Acquisition Guide

The Smoky Direwolf is one of four mounts that can drop from the Invader's Forgotten Treasure, earned by achieving a Gold rating in a Draenor Garrison invasion.

1

Trigger a Garrison Invasion

From your Draenor Garrison, trigger an invasion from one of the Draenor civilizations. Your goal is to earn enough points to reach at least a Gold rating (1000 points) during the invasion.

2

Earn Gold Rating

Achieve a Gold Victory score of 1000 points during the invasion. This awards a Gold Victory, which allows you to complete the weekly quest Gold Victory (Horde) or Gold Victory (Alliance), rewarding you with the Invader's Forgotten Treasure.

3

Push for Platinum Score

If you can reach 1300 points (Platinum), you will also receive a Routed Invader's Crate of Spoils, giving you a second bag with an additional chance to contain the Smoky Direwolf — since each bag can independently drop one of the four mounts.

4

Open Your Treasure Bags

Open the Invader's Forgotten Treasure (and the Routed Invader's Crate of Spoils if earned). Each bag has approximately a 1% chance per mount, and a single bag can contain more than one mount. The four possible mounts are: Smoky Direwolf, Garn Steelmaw, Giant Coldsnout, and Shadowhide Pearltusk.

Tips

  • The Smoky Direwolf is one of 8 wolf mounts added in Warlords of Draenor — the other wolves are Garn Nighthowl, Garn Steelmaw, Armored Frostwolf, Trained Snarler, Swift Frostwolf (Horde only), Ironside Warwolf (Horde only), and Riding Harness.

  • The mount's name and appearance are a nod to Game of Thrones, where Direwolves hail from the north — and, much like Garrison invasions, things don't always end well.
