Slate Primordial Direhorn
The masks aren't to control the direhorn; they are so no one sees your face when it turns on you.
Acquisition Guide
The Slate Primordial Direhorn is a triceratops-style mount introduced in patch 5.2 that drops from Zandalari Warbringer rare elites found across multiple Pandaria zones.
Locate a Zandalari Warbringer
Zandalari Warbringers spawn across five locations in Pandaria: at 52.73, 18.99 in The Jade Forest, at 39.08, 67.13 in Krasarang Wilds, at 47.47, 61.32 in Dread Wastes, at 36.53, 85.67 in Townlong Steppes, and at 75.09, 67.65 in Kun-Lai Summit. These rares have a 30 to 70 minute respawn timer.
Identify the Slate-Colored Mount
The Reins of the Slate Primordial Direhorn will only drop from a Zandalari Warbringer that is currently riding a slate-colored direhorn — the color of the mount the Warbringer rides always matches the mount type it can drop.
Secure the First Tag
Zandalari Warbringers are not faction-tagged like world bosses — your group must land the first hit to be eligible for loot. The Warbringer does not reset through distance, so pulling it to a new location will not free it for another group to tag.
Defeat the Warbringer
Each Zandalari Warbringer has approximately 21 million health and displays one of four buffs on its nameplate, each corresponding to a different ability it will use during the fight, including Horrific Visage which is an AOE fear. Bringing multiple characters is recommended.
Tips
The color of the Zandalari Warbringer's mount at the time of the encounter directly determines which Primordial Direhorn mount can drop — only fight ones riding a slate-colored direhorn.
