Rampaging Mauler
One would think controlling a rampaging mount would be difficult, but if you can learn to control the direction of the rampage it can be quite useful.
Acquisition Guide
The Rampaging Mauler is a mount that drops from Konthrogz the Obliterator, a rare event spawn in Korthia introduced in Shadowlands patch 9.1 Chains of Domination.
Travel to Korthia
Head to Korthia and position yourself at Hope's Ascent at 38.33, 38.1, on top of the giant chain, where you can watch for spawn alerts from across the zone.
Watch for Spawn Alert
When Konthrogz the Obliterator spawns, a message will appear in your chat reading 'A massive devourer tears an opening into Korthia' — this signals that a blue portal has opened somewhere in Korthia, including a known spawn point near the Vault of Secrets.
Trigger the Spawn Yourself
Defeating rares in Korthia has a chance to trigger Konthrogz the Obliterator to spawn via a blue portal — killing the same rare multiple times can trigger a portal, and there is no cooldown between portal spawns, so back-to-back spawns are possible.
Defeat Konthrogz the Obliterator
Rush to Konthrogz the Obliterator, found at 52.16, 21.13 or 44.4, 29.4 in Korthia depending on spawn — this NPC has a very large health pool that scales with the number of attackers, giving roughly 3 minutes to reach and kill it before other players finish it off.
Loot and Repeat Daily
Each character can earn one loot attempt per day from Konthrogz the Obliterator, with the Rampaging Mauler having an estimated drop chance of 1–3%, so returning daily on multiple characters is the most effective approach.
Tips
A blue portal indicates Konthrogz the Obliterator has spawned, while a grey portal indicates a different rare (Towering Exterminator) — only the blue portal is relevant for this mount.
Because Korthia rare activity has declined significantly since Shadowlands, Konthrogz spawns far less frequently than at launch, so camping Hope's Ascent at 38.33, 38.1 and triggering rares yourself is the most reliable method.
