The Curious Slateback is a mount obtained from the 
Wriggling Pinnacle Cache, a reward from completing the Ecological Succession weekly world quest in the Oasis biodome in the northeastern part of K'aresh.
Unlock Ecological Succession
Complete Campaign Chapter 4, which becomes available in Week 2 of patch 11.2, then finish the first Oasis storyline to unlock the Ecological Succession activities in the Oasis biodome in the northeastern part of K'aresh.
Fill the Weekly Progress Bar
Complete the general Weekly Quests, species-related Semi-Weekly Quests, and other Ecological Succession activities to fill the progress bar, which causes the Ecological Succession weekly world quest to auto-complete and award the Wriggling Pinnacle Cache.
Speed Up With Watering Jugs
The 
Watering Jug is available on the Auction House and contributes 3–4% per use toward the bar; one variant has infinite uses, letting you spam it at a single plant until the weekly is done.
Open Cache, Learn Mount Immediately
The Curious Slateback can drop from the first Wriggling Pinnacle Cache of the week, sharing a loot slot with one of 12 possible pets — learn the mount immediately upon receiving it, as duplicates are possible in subsequent weeks.
