Acquisition Guide

The Elder Glowmite is a mount sold by Mothkeeper Wew'tam in Harandar for 10 Luminous Dust. To get the dust you must collect 120 Glowing Moths scattered around the zone. Moths are gated behind Hara'ti Renown in three batches of 40 (Renown 1, 5, and 6 to collect; Renown 2, 6, and 11 to see them on the map). The community-recommended order is to push Hara'ti Renown to at least 9 first, then sweep the moths in a single loop.

Push Hara'ti Renown to ~9 first

Renown gates what you can collect AND what you can see on the map:

• 40 moths unlock at Renown 1 to collect (Renown 2 to see icons)

• 40 moths unlock at Renown 5 to collect (Renown 6 to see icons)

• 40 moths unlock at Renown 6 to collect (Renown 11 to see icons)


Fastest renown sources: complete the Harandar main storyline, the Sojourner of Harandar achievement, Midnight Lore Hunter lorebooks (each gives renown), the Leaf None Behind rare-encounter achievement (rares give 50–75 rep on first kill), and weekly/world quests. Pushing to Renown 9 first unlocks visibility for almost every moth in one sweep.

Sweep 120 Glowing Moths across Harandar — each drops Luminous Dust. Higher Renown unlocks additional moth spawn locations. The community-built MothWaypoints addon shows only the moths you have NOT yet collected (per-character) and is by far the smoothest way to do this — see Tips for install + commands.

Tips

  • Recommended addon: MothWaypoints — shows only the moths you have NOT yet collected, per-character. After installing, toggle it with the slash command: /mothwps

  • Renown-9 priority order (per varenne, top-rated comment): 1) finish the Harandar main story, 2) clear Sojourner of Harandar, 3) clear Midnight Lore Hunter lorebooks, 4) clear Leaf None Behind rares + world quests. Reaching Renown 9 BEFORE going for moths is much faster than chaining short loops.

  • TomTom missing-moth macro — tells you which moths you've already collected ("Done X") AND drops a TomTom waypoint on every moth you still need, with its renown tier as the label. Requires the TomTom addon. Chat caps each line at ~255 chars and only accepts one line per Enter, so install PasteNG (CurseForge / WoWUp) — it splits a multi-line clipboard paste into sequential chat sends so the whole block runs in one paste. Note: only checks character-bound quest flags, so moths collected on alts will appear as missing on this character.

  • Cluster starting points if you prefer manual sweeps — the moth circuit naturally splits into ~4 quadrants. Useful entry waypoints: (SW start, Renown 1),(north center, Renown 1),(east, Renown 9 cave),(SW second loop, Renown 1).

  • Both Elder Glowmite and Cyan Glowmite come from this same 120-moth grind — your second mount only costs another 10 Luminous Dust, no extra collecting required.

Camera angle is off-center while mounted on the ground

Reported by tuzz16 on Wowhead — when you zoom your camera in while mounted on the Elder Glowmite on the ground, your character drops out of frame at the bottom. Workaround: zoom out slightly, or use it primarily as a flying mount where the framing is correct.
