The Smoldering Sprout cannot be interacted with until you have completed through Chapter 5 of the Emerald Dream questline. If the sprout is not responding, progress the main storyline first.

Locate the Smoldering Sprout at 48.68, 67.9 in the Emerald Dream. Dismount before interacting with it — being mounted can prevent the first prompt from appearing.

Interact with the Smoldering Sprout at 48.68, 67.9 to put out the flames, turning it into the Blackened Sprout, then interact with it again to brush it off, transforming it into the Sprout. Note that this step is time-gated, so the option to extinguish it may not appear until after a daily reset.

Once the Sprout appears, the quest Some Water... will become available from it. The window may close after the first interaction, so click the plant again if needed to see the quest.

Head to the Herbalism Trainer NPC, Professor Ash, located at 49.59, 62.81 in Amirdrassil. Professor Ash will have a new dialogue option about the plant, and you can pick up the follow-up quest to the left of the NPC.

The quest chain is staggered and cannot be finished in one session. The known Day 1 quests in the chain are Some Water..., A Dash of Minerals..., The Right Food..., and A Little Hope. Return after daily resets to continue progressing the chain.

When a step requires combining multiple items such as the Tel'Abim Banana with other ingredients, do not click the banana directly or you will eat it instead — interact with the correct combining mechanic as directed by the quest.
