Acquisition Guide
The Reins of the Scarlet Pterrordax is a flying mount rewarded to Horde characters level 30 or higher upon completing the quest Time to Fly in Dazar'alor.
Reach Level 30
The quest Time to Fly is only available to Horde characters who have reached level 30 or higher.
Travel to Dazar'alor
Travel to Dazar'alor as a Horde character — the quest will automatically appear within seconds of arriving in the city. If you are coming from Valdrakken, the quest should pop up shortly after the zone loads.
Turn In the Quest
Turn in the Time to Fly quest within Dazar'alor to receive the Reins of the Scarlet Pterrordax. If the quest NPC cannot be found, complete the Battle for Azeroth introductory questline first, which will cause the NPC to appear.
Tips
Starting in Patch 10.1.5, Riding Skill is learned automatically at certain level thresholds for free, so no separate riding training is required before claiming this mount.
