Ancient Salamanther

Due to their preference for dark caves and murky waters, sightings of this unique breed of salamanther are so rare that many researchers thought they had gone extinct.

Acquisition Guide

The Ancient Salamanther is a very low drop chance world drop from rare enemies on The Forbidden Reach in Dragonflight.

1

Travel to The Forbidden Reach

Head to The Forbidden Reach and begin farming rare enemies in the area around at 28.4, 37.9. Any rare mob on the island has a chance to drop the mount, estimated at roughly 0.8%.

2

Kill Rares Repeatedly

Rares can drop the mount even if you have already killed them earlier the same day, so revisiting the same rare multiple times in one session is a valid strategy. Bonesifter Marwak is one confirmed example of a rare that dropped the mount on a repeat kill.

3

Trade the Mount If Needed

If the mount drops and you already own it, it has blue tradeable text indicating it can be traded to any player who tagged the rare it dropped from, so you can hand it off to others in your group who were present for the kill.

Tips

  • The mount is tradeable to anyone who tagged the rare it dropped from, so grouping with others farming the same rare gives your group a better collective chance of someone receiving and keeping the drop.
