Acquisition Guide
The Reins of the Sundered Zerethsteed is a Protoform Synthesis mount in Zereth Mortis, crafted at the Synthesis Forge after finding its schematic on the ground in Endless Sands.
Unlock Protoform Synthesis Forge
Complete the first three chapters of the Secrets of the First Ones zone campaign, then research at the cypher console in Exile's Hollow. Complete the questline starting at Finding Tahli, and after the following day you can begin The Lost Component questline, which unlocks the Protoform Synthesis forge. The forge entrance is at 61.2, 58.9 in Zereth Mortis.
Pick Up the Schematic
Head to Endless Sands and find 
Schematic: Sundered Zerethsteed on the ground at 60.5, 30.6, near two cages. Clear the group of common mobs in the area before picking it up. Note that the schematic will not appear on the ground if you have already learned it — check the forge first to confirm you do not already know the recipe.
Learn the Schematic at the Forge
Bring the schematic to the Protoform Synthesis Forge at 61.2, 58.9 and turn it in to learn the Sundered Zerethsteed crafting recipe.
Gather the Required Materials
Collect all three crafting reagents: 300x 
Genesis Mote, which drop from mobs all around Zereth Mortis; 1x 
Cervid Lattice, which drops from stag mobs such as Mawtouched Grazer, Chitali the Eldest, and Native Cervid, and is also available on the Auction House; and 1x 
Mawforged Bridle.
Craft the Mount at the Forge
Return to the Protoform Synthesis Forge at 61.2, 58.9 with all three reagents and craft the Reins of the Sundered Zerethsteed.
Tips
The Cervid Lattice can be purchased from other players on the Auction House if you prefer not to farm stag mobs.
