Acquisition Guide
The Deepstar Aurelid is a jellyfish-style flying mount that drops from Hirukon, a rare spawn in Zereth Mortis that can be triggered using a craftable Aurelid Lure for a guaranteed drop chance, or killed without one for an extremely low drop chance.
Fish Strange Goop from Hirukon
Travel to Hirukon's pool in Zereth Mortis at 51.4, 74.2 and fish up Strange Goop. This item has an extremely low drop rate from fishing, estimated around 1 in 1500 catches.
Visit Baroness Vashj in Maldraxxus
Bring the Strange Goop to Baroness Vashj in Maldraxxus. She will offer to craft an Aurelid Lure in exchange for three materials: a Pungent Blobfish, a Flipper Fish, and a Coilclutch Vine.
Fish Pungent Blobfish in Zangarmarsh
Enter Coilfang Reservoir in Zangarmarsh, Outland and fish from a school inside to obtain the Pungent Blobfish.
Catch Flipper Fish in Nazjatar
Fish from the school in Zin-Azshari, Nazjatar at 72.8, 24.3. The Flipper Fish will immediately slip away when caught, spawning a flopping fish on the ground that you must click on to collect the final item.
Obtain the Coilclutch Vine
The Coilclutch Vine is the third ingredient needed for the Aurelid Lure. Collect it and return all three materials to Baroness Vashj to receive the completed Aurelid Lure.
Summon and Kill Hirukon
Use the Aurelid Lure at Hirukon's location in Zereth Mortis at 51.4, 74.2 to summon and trigger Hirukon. Killing Hirukon while using the lure to trigger it is a guaranteed source of the Deepstar Aurelid. Note that Hirukon can also be killed without a lure, but the mount drop chance is extremely low. The mount can also drop without using a lure at all.
Tips
If you kill Hirukon on a given day and later use your Aurelid Lure the same day, the mount may not drop — wait for the daily reset before using your lure.
