There are quite a few reasons that you do not want to stand behind a tauralus, the hooves and whip-like tails being the least of them.
Acquisition Guide
The Bonehoof Tauralus is a mount that drops from Tahonta in Maldraxxus, but only when you have the Necrolord companion Neena equipped during the kill.
Unlock Necrolord Covenant
You must be level 60 and have the Necrolord covenant unlocked to proceed. Travel to Stormwind City or Orgrimmar and accept the quest Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons from Highlord Darion Mograine or Nazgrim if it does not appear automatically, then follow the prompts to enter Shadowlands and choose the Necrolord covenant.
Reach Renown 32
You must reach at least Renown 32 with the Necrolords before the mount can drop. Complete Necrolord covenant activities in Maldraxxus until this threshold is met.
Equip Neena Construct Body
Before heading to Tahonta, equip the Necrolord abomination companion Neena as your active Construct Body. Tahonta will not drop the Bonehoof Tauralus unless Neena is summoned and active during the encounter.
Kill Tahonta Daily
Travel to Tahonta at 44, 50.4 in Maldraxxus, also reachable via the path markers at 76.5, 43 and 50.4 76.8. Kill Tahonta with Neena active and loot the body normally — it is not necessary to use Neena's ability to trigger the drop. The drop rate is low, so daily kills are required. Tips
The drop rate is approximately 1-3% based on kill counts reported by farmers averaging over 30 days of daily attempts before obtaining the mount.
The mount can be looted normally from the corpse without pressing any extra action button during the fight — simply having Neena active is the required condition.
