Acquisition Guide

The Ivory Cloud Serpent is a mount obtained by using the Zan-Tien Lasso on a friendly rare NPC of the same name that flies quickly around the Vale of Eternal Blossoms exclusively during a Mogu Invasion assault.

1

Wait for Mogu Invasion

The Ivory Cloud Serpent NPC only spawns during a Mogu Invasion assault in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Do not attempt to hunt it during any other assault type, as it will not appear.

2

Farm the Zan-Tien Lasso

Before hunting the serpent, obtain the Zan-Tien Lasso by killing Zan-Tien named Mogu enemies in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms during the Mogu Invasion. The drop chance is reasonable — players have reported obtaining it within 20 to 50 minutes of farming. The lasso does not appear to drop from Baruk-type Mogu mobs, so focus on Zan-Tien named enemies specifically.

3

Position Yourself Correctly

Fly to the spawn area at 28.2, 54.4 in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and gain significant altitude. Position yourself at roughly the same height as the top of the large gate separating the Vale of Eternal Blossoms from the Dread Wastes to the west — the tallest structure along that wall, flanked by two towers. At this height you should be approximately 20 yards below the Great Worm From Beyond as it passes overhead. Additional confirmed sighting coordinates include at 29, 55 and at 26, 55.

4

Macro to Target Serpent

Set up a targeting macro using #showtooltip item:174927 on a keybind and spam it while waiting. The Ivory Cloud Serpent is very small in size and can be difficult to see, especially in a crowd. It despawns extremely quickly — roughly 10 seconds after appearing — so having the macro actively spamming is critical to targeting it before it vanishes. Spawns have been observed after roughly 2 hours and 43 minutes following a previous confirmed spawn.

5

Use the Lasso on Serpent

Once the Ivory Cloud Serpent is targeted, immediately use the Zan-Tien Lasso. Do not move while casting, as the lasso has a 2-second cast time and movement will interrupt it. Note that Druids cannot use the lasso while in flight form. The serpent follows a clockwise path around the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, flying over The Golden Stair, past the Shrine of Two Moons and Mogu'shan Palace, then south and west along the zone edge toward the Tu Shen Burial Grounds, spawning from around at 27, 56.

Tips

  • Multiple players can lasso the same Ivory Cloud Serpent spawn, with groups of four or more confirmed to have all received the mount from a single spawn.

  • The Ivory Cloud Serpent flies at nearly the same speed as a 420% flying mount, so be ready to cast the lasso the moment you target it rather than chasing it.

  • Druids must switch out of flight form before attempting to use the Zan-Tien Lasso.
