The ballads of Ardenweald claim that the birth of gloomrunner heralds the passing of a particularly benevolent wild god. Seeing a gloomrunner is therefore a blessing and a curse.
Acquisition Guide
The Swift Gloomhoof is a guaranteed drop from Night Mare, a rare elite found in Dreamshrine Basin in Ardenweald, which requires a special item called the Dream Catcher to engage.
Collect Broken Soulweb
Travel to Tirna Scithe in the far west of Ardenweald. Fly to Root-home and ride south, then head northwest through Darkreach. At around 19.8, 63.4, jump onto the tree root using a Goblin Glider Kit or similar ability, follow the root up to a cart, and collect the Broken Soulweb lying on the ground behind it.
Complete the Glitterfall Basin Questchain
After collecting the Broken Soulweb, head to Glitterfall Basin and bring 10x Lightless Silk with you to complete the Trouble at the Gormling Corral questchain, which is part of obtaining the Dream Catcher.
Obtain the Dream Catcher
If you are not a Night Fae covenant member, speak with the guards outside the Heart of the Forest to request Ysera, who will come out to assist you in creating the Dream Catcher without requiring covenant prerequisites.
Engage Night Mare in Dreamshrine Basin
Head to Dreamshrine Basin, the area just outside Hibernal Hollow in Ardenweald. Use the Dream Catcher in the basin to receive a buff that transports you into a shadowy phase of the area. Night Mare will appear and is marked on the minimap as a rare. You can wait at 57.4, 50.2 in Ardenweald for Night Mare to path near you. You can reuse the Dream Catcher even in combat to refresh the buff — leaving the basin will remove the effect and expel you from the phase.
Defeat Night Mare
Defeat Night Mare at 57.4, 50.2 in Ardenweald to receive the Swift Gloomhoof as a guaranteed drop. Night Mare is also part of the Adventurer of Ardenweald achievement.
Tips
Other players who also have the Dream Catcher buff will be visible and interactable with you in the shadowy phase, so you are not required to defeat Night Mare alone.
