Acquisition Guide
The Frightened Kodo is a mount that drops from the Frightened Kodo rare spawn in Darkshore, and is obtained by being the first player to click on the NPC when it appears.
Create Alliance Class Trial
Create an Alliance class trial character on a low-population server, then use the Stormwind Hearthstone to travel to Stormwind City. From there, head to the Stormwind Docks and take the portal to Darkshore at the farthest left dock.
Enable War Mode
Set your class trial character to War Mode before heading to Darkshore. The Frightened Kodo can spawn regardless of Warfront status and regardless of your faction.
Watch for Slow Loading
When clicking the portal to Darkshore, if the zone loads slowly, this means a new world instance has been generated for you, which guarantees a Frightened Kodo is running around in the zone.
Search All Spawn Locations
Fly around Darkshore checking these known spawn points: at 41.31, 65.48 — at 44.04, 67.56 — at 41.27, 54.01 — at 38, 66 — at 39.2, 56.5 — at 44, 65 — at 38.5, 33 — at 45, 51.3 — at 41, 65. Use a target macro with /tar Fright while flying between locations to detect the NPC quickly.
Click the Kodo First
The Frightened Kodo is a clickable NPC that runs very fast with a friendly green nameplate. The first player to channel-click it receives the mount directly into their inventory, after which the NPC instantly disappears. The mount has a 100% drop chance on click.
Relog If Kodo Is Absent
If the Frightened Kodo is not found at any spawn point, relog to generate a fresh instance of Darkshore. Most players find the Kodo within 3 to 4 relogs, with the full process taking under 30 minutes.
Tips
The Frightened Kodo has a 100% chance to spawn after a hard or soft server restart, so newly restarted or freshly instanced servers are ideal.
Class trial characters are eligible to loot the Frightened Kodo mount.
The Frightened Kodo is the same Kodo seen running away in the Terror of Darkshore cinematic.
