Acquisition Guide
Ban-Lu, Grandmaster's Companion is the Monk class mount from Legion, rewarded automatically upon completing the Monk Order Hall campaign quest chain that begins on the Broken Shore.
Unlock Broken Isles Flying
Before starting the quest chain, complete Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two to unlock flying in the Broken Isles. If you are on an alt, complete Uniting The Isles by visiting Khadgar in Dalaran — no prior reputation or zone quests are required as of 2023.
Complete Breaching the Tomb
Complete the Breaching the Tomb achievement on your Monk to unlock the quest chain. This is required before Yiska on the Broken Shore will offer you the first quest.
Talk to Yiska on Broken Shore
Head to the Broken Shore and find Yiska, who will begin the quest chain with the quest Master Who?. Use the Transportation Mandala found on the western side of the artifact forge hall as part of this step.
Complete the Full Quest Chain
Work through all quests in the chain in order: The Tale of Ban-Lu, Return to the Broken Peak, The Trail of Ban-Lu, Smelly's Luckydo, The Shadow of Ban-Lu, Clean-up on Aisle Sha, The River to Ban-Lu, Lilies for Ryuli, and finally The Trial of Ban-Lu.
Receive Ban-Lu Automatically
After turning in The Trial of Ban-Lu, Ban-lu, Grandmaster's Companion is added to your mount collection automatically — no additional purchase or item redemption is needed.
Tips
If you idle on Ban-Lu for an extended period, he will offer words of wisdom such as 'A kite cannot fly unless wind blows against it, Grandmaster' and 'Idleness rarely leads to success, Grandmaster.'
While mounted and swimming, Ban-Lu has unique dialogue lines referencing his past adventures, including a swim to Kezan with Grandmaster Rochu.
