Red Primal Raptor
Raptors have spread to nearly all of the lands of Azeroth. It is uncertain whether the trolls led them or followed them.
Acquisition Guide
The
Reins of the Red Primal Raptor is obtained by hatching a
Cracked Primal Egg, which has a chance to drop from Elite Dinosaurs on the Isle of Giants, located north of Kun'Lai Summit in Mists of Pandaria.
Travel to Isle of Giants
Head to the Isle of Giants, the island located north of Kun'Lai Summit. The island is home to Elite Dinosaurs with 2 to 13 million health that drop both
Giant Dinosaur Bones and the
Primal Egg.
Farm Elite Dinosaurs
Kill Elite Dinosaurs across the island — each one drops between 1 and 45 Bones per kill, and has a chance to drop a Primal Egg.
Loot and Hold One Egg
The
Primal Egg is a unique item, meaning you can only hold one at a time — if a second one drops while you already have one in your bag, you will not be able to loot it, though other party members can loot their own.
Hatch the Primal Egg
After 3 days, the Primal Egg becomes a
Cracked Primal Egg, which hatches into one of three mounts at random:
Reins of the Red Primal Raptor,
Reins of the Black Primal Raptor, or
Reins of the Green Primal Raptor — each with an equal chance.
Tips
Because the Primal Egg is unique and players continue farming bones after already having an egg in their bag, the drop rate shown on external databases is artificially deflated and lower than the actual in-game rate.
