The Amber Primordial Direhorn is a rare mount drop from Zandalari Warbringer, a rare elite spawn found across multiple zones in Pandaria introduced in patch 5.2.
Locate Zandalari Warbringer
Zandalari Warbringer spawns in five locations across Pandaria: Dread Wastes at 47.47, 61.32, Townlong Steppes at 36.53, 85.67, Kun-Lai Summit at 75.09, 67.65, Krasarang Wilds at 39.08, 67.13, and The Jade Forest at 52.73, 18.99. These rares have a 30 to 70 minute respawn timer.
Identify the Amber Warbringer
Zandalari Warbringer spawns riding a direhorn whose color matches the mount it can drop. The Amber Primordial Direhorn drops from the warbringer mounted on an amber-colored direhorn, which has yellow eyes and tongue — distinguishing it from the slate direhorn with blue eyes and tongue.
Tag and Kill the Warbringer
Zandalari Warbringer is a rare elite with 21 million health and is not faction-tagged — your group must land the first hit to be eligible for loot. These mobs do not reset through distance, so pulling them to another location will not cause them to reset.
Collect Your Mount
After defeating Zandalari Warbringer, loot the corpse for a chance at the Reins of the Amber Primordial Direhorn. The drop chance is approximately 10%, so multiple kills across all five spawn locations may be required.
Tips
All five Zandalari Warbringers share the same abilities, and clicking their nameplate reveals four possible buffs that determine which abilities they will use during the fight.
