Fossilized Raptor
Legends tell of a spell placed upon a hunting raptor who dared to snarl at young Tyrande Whisperwind as she bathed in a jungle pool. The beast is cursed to wander Azeroth - until it apologizes.
Acquisition Guide
The
Fossilized Raptor is a rare Archaeology mount crafted by solving the Fossil Archaeology project, which requires 100 Fossil Archaeology Fragments.
Train Archaeology Profession
You need the Archaeology profession to begin digging for fossil fragments. There is no minimum skill level required for the Fossilized Raptor project to appear, though most players find it surfaces after reaching a skill of 225.
Find Fossil Dig Sites
Fossil dig sites only spawn on Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms — not Northrend. At any time, four dig sites are active per continent; roughly 23% of Kalimdor's 60 dig sites and 24% of Eastern Kingdoms' 55 dig sites are fossil sites, making either continent equally viable.
Clear Non-Fossil Sites
If no fossil dig sites are currently active on your chosen continent, complete the other available dig sites to rotate new ones in until a fossil site appears.
Solve the Fossilized Raptor Project
Once the Fossilized Raptor project appears in your Archaeology journal, collect 100 Fossil Archaeology Fragments and solve it. It is a rare-tier Fossil project and may not appear until you have solved many common-tier Fossil artifacts such as the Feathered Raptor Arm, Devilsaur Tooth, and Insect in Amber — duplicates of common items count toward eventually prompting it.
