Mechano-Hog
Difficult to build and to maintain, these hogs more than make up for their expense through sheer cool factor.
Acquisition Guide
The
Mechano-Hog is a two-passenger engineering-crafted mount that requires 450 Engineering skill and an Exalted reputation to purchase the schematic.
Reach 450 Engineering
You must level your Engineering profession to 450 before you can craft or use the schematic.
Buy the Schematic
Purchase and learn
Schematic: Mechano-Hog, which requires Exalted reputation — the easiest way to reach Exalted is by running heroic dungeons at level 80 without equipping a tabard that redirects reputation. The schematic costs
340 gold at Exalted.
Gather the Crafting Materials
Collect 12x
Titansteel Bar (note each bar has a 20-hour cooldown to craft, so plan accordingly), 40x
Handful of Cobalt Bolts, and 2x
Arctic Fur.
Purchase Vendor-Only Components
Three components are sold exclusively to engineers with 450 skill who own the recipe: 1x
Salvaged Iron Golem Parts (
3,000 gold), 8x
Goblin-Machined Piston (
1,000 gold each), and 1x
Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe (
1,500 gold) — bringing the vendor material cost to at least
12,500 gold total.
Craft the Mechano-Hog
Once all materials are gathered, have an engineer with 450 skill and the schematic craft the
Mechano-Hog — if you are not an engineer yourself, find one to craft it for you, as non-engineers can own and ride the mount but cannot craft it.
Tips
Tauren players benefit especially from this mount — because of the leaned-back riding posture, it gives the same effective height as walking, allowing Tauren to pass through low doorways in places like Dalaran that other mounts cannot.
The Mechano-Hog seats two players; anyone in your group can ride in the sidecar without needing Engineering themselves.
Owning this mount grants the achievement Get to the Choppa!
