Acquisition Guide
The Onyx Netherwing Drake, known as Onyxien, is a 280% speed flying mount awarded upon reaching Exalted with the Netherwing faction in Shadowmoon Valley through a reputation grind involving daily quests and egg farming.
Begin Netherwing Reputation Grind
Travel to Netherwing Ledge in Shadowmoon Valley and start building Netherwing reputation through daily quests. The quest A Slow Death rewards 250 rep and requires collecting 12 Fel Glands from nether rays on the ledge, then using them to poison the orcs working around the ledge.
Complete Profession Daily Quests
Pick up the Netherdust Pollen daily (250 rep) if you are an herbalist, which requires gathering 40 pollen from netherdust bushes around the ledge. Miners and skinners have an identical daily quest available as well.
Farm Netherwing Crystals Daily
Complete the Netherwing Crystal daily quest for 250 rep by collecting 40 Netherwing Crystals, which drop from flayers on the ledge and from mobs inside the mines south of the encampment, with notably strong drop rates reported from the fallen at the back of the mine.
Farm Netherwing Eggs
While completing daily quests, collect Netherwing Eggs around Netherwing Ledge. Logging on around the server daily reset time means fewer players are competing for eggs, making farming significantly faster.
Reach Exalted and Claim Drake
Upon reaching Exalted with the Netherwing faction, complete the final reward chain and travel to Shattrath City to speak with Barthamus, who will allow you to choose your free drake. Select Onyxien, the Onyx Netherwing Drake, from the available options.
Purchase from Drake Dealer Hurlunk
Alternatively, once Exalted, you can purchase the Onyx Netherwing Drake from Drake Dealer Hurlunk at 65.4, 85.8 in Shadowmoon Valley.
Tips
If you play a Warlock, use your Eye of Kilrogg to scout the mines before entering to locate mobs efficiently.
