Blue Wind Rider
After being freed from vicious harpies by Cairne and Thrall, many of these creatures became valuable companions of the Horde.
Acquisition Guide
The Blue Wind Rider is a Horde flying mount from The Burning Crusade, purchased from a vendor in Shadowmoon Valley, Shadowmoon Valley.
Travel to Shadowmoon Village
Head to Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley, where the vendor selling the Blue Wind Rider is located. You must be level 60 to purchase this mount and have the normal flying skill trained, which costs
600 Gold.
Purchase the Mount
Buy the Blue Wind Rider from the vendor for
50 Gold. The mount flies at 60% speed in the air, matching a ground epic mount's speed, and can only be used in Outland.
Tips
The Blue Wind Rider can only be used in Outland — it cannot be flown in Azeroth or other regions.
Despite its slower flight speed compared to an epic flyer, the Blue Wind Rider lets you fly over terrain that would require long detours on a ground mount, making it worthwhile until you can afford epic flight. See the video guide for a full walkthrough.
