Acquisition Guide

The Dreadsteed is the epic Warlock racial mount, obtained either through a classic quest line or, as of Patch 3.0.3, by training it directly from a trainer once you have the first Warlock mount and have purchased 150 riding skill.

1

Check Your Riding Skill

Before pursuing the Dreadsteed, confirm your riding skill level. Completing the original quest line raises your riding skill from 75 to 150, saving you the high training cost — alternatively, you can purchase 150 riding skill directly and then train the Dreadsteed from a trainer as of Patch 3.0.3.

2

Gather the Required Materials

The three items used to summon the original Dreadsteed are reusable, so ask other Warlocks if you can borrow theirs — a tip of 50–100g is the usual exchange. You will still need to acquire the remaining materials yourself.

3

Note the Codex of Xerrath

The Dreadsteed is affected by The Codex of Xerrath, so if you have unlocked that, its appearance will be altered accordingly.

Tips

  • The three summoning items for the quest are reusable and can be borrowed from other players, typically for a 50–100g tip, which can save you a significant amount of gold.
