Acquisition Guide
The Armored War-Bred Tauralus is a guaranteed 
reward from the Shadowlands Necrolord Covenant campaign — specifically the final quest 'The Third Fall of Kel'Thuzad' in the 'Assault on the House of Rituals' chapter. Requires 
Renown 22 with the Necrolord Covenant. Not a dungeon drop, not a rare, not a weekly lockout — just complete the campaign on a Necrolord character.
Travel to Maldraxxus
Portal from Stormwind or Orgrimmar to Oribos, then fly to Maldraxxus. The Necrolord sanctum is Seat of the Primus: Maldraxxus 49.5, 50.0
Pledge to the Necrolord Covenant
Complete the Shadowlands intro questline to unlock Covenant choice, then pledge to the Necrolord Covenant. You can change Covenants at any time; campaign progress is tracked per Covenant.
Reach Necrolord Renown 22
Earn Renown via weekly Covenant Callings, sanctum upgrades, anima collection, and campaign chapters. Renown catch-up is generous if you're behind on chapters; Renown 22 is required to unlock the chapter that delivers the mount.
Complete the Necrolord Campaign
Progress the Necrolord storyline through the 'Assault on the House of Rituals' chapter, ending with the final quest 'The Third Fall of Kel'Thuzad'.
Claim the Mount Reward
The mount is a guaranteed reward from the final quest — no rare drop, no weekly lockout. Once the chain finishes, the Armored War-Bred Tauralus is added to your collection.
Tips
If you switched Covenants, swap back to Necrolord and pick up the campaign where you left off — progress is per-Covenant.
The mount is account-wide once earned — no need to grind on alts.
Covenant swap penalties were removed long ago — you can change freely.
