Choose the Right Class
Tank specializations are the strongest option for this achievement since the removal of Vengeance increased their base damage significantly, making specs like Protection Warrior or Blood DK well-suited for completing the Gold Damage trial. Classes with only a healing spec and no tank spec, such as shamans and priests, along with pure DPS classes, will have a considerably harder time.
Optimize for Off-Spec Damage
Gear entirely for maximum DPS output — prioritize crit and haste, gem for crit, hit and expertise cap for level 92, and use Strength food and flask. Avoid any Dodge, Parry, or Mastery stats entirely, as you will not be taking damage during the trial.
Survive the Final Waves
The first seven waves of the Gold Damage trial are relatively straightforward, but the final three waves featuring Sha enemies require tight burst single-target damage — even a few wasted GCDs can cause a failure. If you are a Protection Warrior, do NOT use Gladiator Stance on the last wave, as it will register you as a damage dealer and the achievement will not be awarded.
Tips
Pets that can tank for you or tank specs with high base damage are the most reliable options for completing this achievement without a suited specialization.
