Proving Yourself: Gold Damage
Successfully complete the Basic Damage (Gold) trial at the Proving Grounds.
Proving Yourself: Gold Damage requires you to successfully complete the Basic Damage trial at the Gold difficulty level in the Proving Grounds.
Prepare Before Entering
Purchase and eat the food sold by the vendor next to the start of the Proving Grounds, and use a stat-boosting crystal such as Oralius' Whispering Crystal or a flask to gain +200 or more to your stats for the duration of the trial.
Prioritize Kill Order
Always kill the Banana-tosser first when one is present, then focus the healer as your next priority. Interrupt healers immediately to prevent them from healing other mobs, and if a second healer is present, CC it until the first is dead.
Use Tab to Pre-Attack
Spam the Tab key and fire your most powerful instant attack before each round begins so you can kill a mob before the healer has a chance to cast a heal on it.
Save Berserker Buff for Wave 8
A Berserker buff will appear on the ground around wave 5 — do not step on it. Leave it untouched and use it on the small Sha on wave 8 once its shield is down. A second Berserker buff will appear later; save that one for the wave 9 boss when its shield drops.
Manage Cooldowns by Wave
Hold major damage cooldowns for wave 8 and beyond when shielded enemies and the Sha appear. On earlier waves, no cooldowns are needed — simply follow the kill order of Banana-tosser first, then healer.
Handle Exploding Adds Yourself
Do not rely on pets or totems alone to kill exploding adds — personally target and destroy them before they detonate, especially on wave 10.
Tips
Warlocks lacking stuns, slows, and interrupts will find the Banana-tosser particularly difficult; consider using any available movement-impairing abilities to manage its positioning.
Enhancement Shamans should use Magma Totem when two or more mobs are grouped together, and switch to Searing Totem for single-target waves to maximize damage efficiency.
