An Epic Buddy requires you to recruit or obtain an epic-quality follower in Warlords of Draenor.
Complete The Steel Has Been Brought
Enter Blackrock Foundry on any non-LFR difficulty and complete the achievement The Steel Has Been Brought to recruit an epic follower and unlock An Epic Buddy.
Complete Come With Me If You Want to Live
Enter Slag Mines on Heroic difficulty and complete the achievement Come With Me If You Want to Live to receive an epic follower.
Complete Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy...?
Enter Upper Blackrock Spire on Heroic difficulty and complete the achievement Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy...? to receive an epic follower.
Reach Brawler's Guild Rank 5
Reach rank 5 in the Warlords of Draenor edition of Brawler's Guild to unlock 
Contract: Meatball, which grants an epic follower upon use.
Obtain an Epic Ship
Ships count toward this achievement — if a newly built ship comes out as epic quality, the achievement will be granted immediately.
Tips
As of patch 6.1, a follower that upgrades to epic quality through missions also counts toward this achievement, so any green or blue follower has a chance to fulfill the criteria via the upgrade system.
