There are 500 total pet battle achievement points available (including the point-threshold achievements themselves), so you need 400 of those 500 points to complete this achievement. Note that the 10 points from this achievement itself do not count toward the 400 required.

Defeating all 40 master pet tamers awards 20 points, and defeating every pet tamer in the game awards an additional 40 points along with the title 'Tamer', contributing 60 points toward your total.

Defeating the Pandaren Spirits awards 5 points, defeating Aki the Chosen awards 5 points, and defeating the 10 elite battle pets awards another 5 points, for 15 additional points in this category.

Completing all 40 pet battle daily quests in a single day awards 10 points.

The collection achievements contribute 260 points total and include milestones such as capturing an uncommon quality pet (5 points), capturing 50 rare quality pets (20 points total), and capturing a pet with less than 5% health (5 points), among others.

When you reach 400 points and the achievement fires, the Jade Tentacle is added directly to your pet collection with no notification, bag item, or in-game mail — check your pet journal immediately after the achievement completes to find it already added.
