Documents of a Dark History is an archaeology achievement earned by restoring both the 
Edicts of the Thunder King and the 
Worn Monument Ledger.
Restore Edicts of the Thunder King
Use archaeology to restore the Edicts of the Thunder King. Note that the Pristine Edicts of the Thunder King does NOT count toward this achievement — only the standard restored version does.
Restore Worn Monument Ledger
Use archaeology to restore the Worn Monument Ledger. Both artifacts must be restored in their standard (non-pristine) form for the achievement to complete.
