First person on the realm to achieve 600 skill in archaeology.

Realm First! Zen Master Archaeologist is awarded to the first player on a realm to reach 600 skill in Archaeology, requiring you to complete artifacts from the new Mists of Pandaria zones since only those solves grant skill points in the current build.

1

Unlock New Zone Digsites

Skill points are only earned by completing artifacts from the newly added races in the Mists of Pandaria zones, so head directly into those areas as soon as possible and begin discovering digsites — digsites outside Jade Forest will be unfamiliar territory, so collect all available Flight Paths immediately to move between them faster.

2

Solve Artifacts Efficiently

Each artifact solve, including rare artifacts, grants exactly 3 skill points, meaning you need approximately 22 to 25 solves to reach 600 skill from 525 — rare artifacts require up to 180 fragments each, significantly more than the 40 to 50 fragments needed for common solves, so prioritize common artifacts when racing for the realm first.

3

Prepare for a Multi-Hour Grind

Successful realm first completions have taken between 3 and 4.5 hours depending on digsite locations and artifact luck, and the lack of flying in the new zones adds additional travel time, so be ready to navigate on the ground through unfamiliar areas.

Tips

  • Collecting all Flight Paths in the new zones as you discover them reduces travel time between digsites and is the single most effective way to speed up the run.

  • Avoid spending time solving rare artifacts unless one is forced on you to complete — their 180-fragment cost versus 3 skill points makes them far slower than common solves during a realm first attempt.
