Prey: Nightmare Mode I
Defeat one of the following Prey targets on Nightmare difficulty.
Prey: Nightmare Mode I is an achievement earned by defeating any one Prey target, such as High Vindicator Vureem, on Nightmare difficulty.
Understand Nightmare Mechanics
Three mechanics are active throughout the entire hunt: a periodic spawn of a copy of yourself that deals significant damage if it reaches you, a ground effect that must be avoided or it deals significant damage, and a timer triggered by Astalor demanding a kill — failing to kill something within the short window applies a nasty bleed debuff.
Stay Near Killable Mobs
When Astalor issues his kill demand, you must have a nearby killable mob ready to eliminate within the window, so position yourself in areas where enemies are available throughout the hunt.
Consider Your Class
Non-tank and non-healer classes, including Havoc Demon Hunter at item level 237–239, face sustained DOT pressure that makes surviving to the final Prey fight significantly harder, so a tank or healer specialization reduces that attrition.
