Emerge victorious from the Spine of Deathwing in Dragon Soul on Heroic Difficulty.

Heroic: Spine of Deathwing is a 10-point achievement earned by defeating the Spine of Deathwing encounter in the Dragon Soul raid on Heroic difficulty.

1

Enter Dragon Soul Raid

Enter the Dragon Soul raid and make your way to the Spine of Deathwing encounter on Heroic difficulty. This fight is soloable at max level.

2

Prevent Deathwing From Rolling

Throughout the entire fight, walk back and forth between both sides of Deathwing's spine continuously. This resets the Roll countdown and prevents Deathwing from committing to a roll that would throw you off.

3

Kill Three Tentacles

Kill three tentacles to cause three Amalgamations to spawn. Kill two of the Amalgamations immediately, then wait for nine or more Corrupted Bloods to spawn. If you risk killing Bloods accidentally, remove your gear and weapons to reduce your damage output.

4

Accumulate Blood Stacks

Once nine or more Corrupted Bloods are present, kill all of them. The puddles they leave behind will stack a debuff on the remaining Amalgamation. Pull the Amalgamation through those puddles until it reaches nine stacks, then kill it next to the plate so it explodes and rips the plate off Deathwing's back.

5

Repeat For Each Plate

Repeat the tentacle, blood, and Amalgamation process for each remaining plate. Always keep one tentacle and one Amalgamation alive during each round to maintain control of the spawn rate.

Tips

  • As of Patch 5.0.4, this achievement is no longer a requirement for Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider.

  • Hybrid healing DPS classes such as Discipline Priest have a significant advantage here due to the healing absorb debuff; if playing a non-healing class, consider killing only one corruption per plate to slow the rate of Blood spawns.

  • See the video guides for a visual walkthrough of the Amalgamation and Blood positioning steps.
